Oct. 24-27: Wrapfest 2007 Unwraps the Mystery Behind the Business of Wrapping Candy and Other Consumer Snack Goods
Wrapping Up: Final Registration for Online Convention For Candy Wrapper Professionals
Media Advisory
WOOD RIDGE, N.J./Sept 29, 2007 --- Home-bound or home-based, thousands of aspiring and inspiring entrepreneurs and candy wrapper professionals are making more than ends meet, when they join other participants online at the fourth annual Wrapfest 2007 (http://www.wrapfest.com/). A wide range of information-packed seminars will engage attendees with knowledgeable experts who explain what motivates consumers to buy, how to determine what the businesses want their clients to experience, and what it takes to extend their reach to buyers and to deliver an entire consumer experience - to celebrate life without compromising quality. Scheduled seminars feature guest speakers such as Rich Fallon, Patty Gale and Belver Ladson.
"The popularity of shows like the Food Network's 'Unwrapped' and shows such as International Sweets & Biscuits Fair (ISM) reflect our society's hunger for distinctive individualized premium products that are best described as specialized, custom, artisan, unconventional, healthy, organic, unique, exotic, vintage and upscale, among others. Businesses that are successful are ones that stimulate sensory qualities such as sound, smell, texture and consider behavioral aspects such as feelings of empowerment and enjoyment. These elements can be difficult for the larger companies to accommodate, at least, cost-affordably," said Wrapfest organizer and "Foilman" Rich Fallon. He points to the current promotion by the Mars company for customizing M&M's. "People want personal, and home workers can deliver for less than the cost of big industry. What sets Wrapfest 2007 apart is that there is no other online or offline convention that directly addresses the specific needs of this smaller, economic niche market."
Most of the businesses in the confectionery industry have a handful of employees and were classified in two categories - chocolate and non-chocolate; in 2003, 1,212 establishments had one to four employees, an additional 412 establishments had five to nine employees, while only 97 firms had more than 100 staff members. Factor in that the U.S. holds the fifth position in the world for candy consumption, and it becomes obvious that the business of wrapping all that candy - among other consumables such as nuts, pretzels, chips and popcorn products, has unfurled flourishing small businesses across the country and exposed a raw need for information about establishing a foothold on a shoestring budget.
"Wrapfest 2007 is about more than just packaging - it's about educating and providing support and information to wrapper professionals whose business revolves around a changing culture. Our business is to create a memorable, meaningful experience for recipients of our products," added Fallon. "Hectic schedules leave less time to stand in registration lines, wander store aisles to find the right products or to take a cross-country journey and incur the travel costs of attending an offline convention - the online potential available at your fingertips is more than appealing. Entering the convention site is as simple as taking a comfortable seat in front of the monitor and touching a mouse or keyboard key - and with a nominal registration fee, it makes the event affordable for everyone."
Wrapfest will send an automatic e-mail of transcripts to all attendees and provide transcripts for every class, vendor chat and general product chat that takes place during the convention. Those that don't have the time to sit in front of the computer for the length of the event, or people that experience an Internet or computer glitch that day can receive the resources that they signed up for.
"This year more than any year before, we are expecting attendees from all over the world," stated Fallon.
